demetor’s kiss..

February 20, 2008

if you have read or watched harry potter series then you must be familiar with a dementor or a dementor’s kiss..

now, i feel like a dementor is beside me, swooping hungrily sensing that there is happiness within.. he’s making me feel hopeless and sad and it’s as if that he sucked all the life out of me.. i have the feeling that i would never be happy again.. i would soon be subjected to a dementor’s kiss, where i’ll be dead.. total oblivion, total darkness..

if only i have Harry’s power to cast my own patronus and dismiss all the dementors away..

where art thou my romeo [adem], this your juliet [kathreen] calling.. hehe.. as i said, i’m a bit demented these days.. this is what i get from reading all those fiction books! haayyy….

Lohan re-creates Monroe’s Photo Poses

NEW YORK — Lindsay Lohan is following in the footsteps of the most famous blond bombshell of them all — Marilyn Monroe.

In this week’s issue of New York magazine, the 21-year-old star of "Mean Girls" and "Freaky Friday" poses nude for photographer Bert Stern in a re-creation of one of Monroe’s most famous photo shoots, done shortly before she died.

The shoot came to be known as "The Last Sitting."

Lohan’s shoot appears in the Spring Fashion issue of New York magazine, which hit newsstands Tuesday.

Lohan told the magazine that she was "comfortable" with posing nude, but added that she did "250 crunches" the night before the shoot.

According to the magazine, Lohan sees the Monroe photos — and by extension her own — as a way of regaining power.

"Here is a woman who is giving herself to the public," Lohan said. "She’s saying, ‘Look, you’ve taken a lot from me, so why don’t I give it to you myself.’ She’s taking control back."

Lohan, whose personal troubles dominated headlines last year, called Monroe’s demise "tragic."

"You know, it’s also tragic what just recently happened to someone else," Lohan told the magazine. When the publication asked Lohan if she was referring to Heath Ledger, the actress said, "They are both prime examples of what this industry can do to someone."

"I sure as hell wouldn’t let it happen to me," Lohan also told the magazine, contemplating a similar fate.

Stern photographed Monroe in 1962 at the Hotel Bel-Air in California, six weeks before she was found dead from an overdose of barbiturates. Monroe was 36.

Those images for Vogue magazine feature Monroe in next to nothing, posing nude with some scarves and jewelry as her accessories and sipping champagne.

Stern recreated those images with Lohan this month, at the same hotel, with Lohan wearing a blond wig and not much else.

Amanda Fortini, who wrote an essay to accompany the Lohan photos, said that the original Monroe photos are "arguably the most famous images ever captured of America’s most famous actress."

Prada gives lace a new look

MILAN (Reuters) - Miuccia Prada’s theme was lace for her womenswear show on Tuesday with heavy, Chantilly-style fabrics for a Spanish mantilla mood.

The predominant color was black, worked dramatically in a straight dress over a pale pastel blue tunic or worn with barely nothing at all for a sexy twist to the traditional textile.

Prada spun out of black into startling bright orange for a straight lace skirt, or used gold for a glamorous jacket and skirt. And she lightened the texture for a black chiffon dress banded with net curtain panels.

The idiosyncratic designer’s collection was shown in Milan’s winter 2008-2009 fashion week but snow and ice had little to do with Prada’s outfits. She has been in the forefront of designers moving away from an emphasis on seasonal inspirations.

Her models wore shoes that had wings back and front, or bows to the toes and heels, in bright metallics and black patents. A pair of boots turned out to be leg covers stopping just above the ankle gladiator-style.

Wings cropped up again for the handles of bags, or in undulating panels on dark grey wool dresses.

And she echoed her menswear show from January by taking a twist to tailoring, so that a waistcoat became a flat panel fastened at the back or a waistband was amplified into nearly a skirt.
